Chera Women Meet with the Municipal Leadership

The Chera Women Shea Butter Processing Cooperative recently held a constructive meeting with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Walewale. For the women, the meeting was an important opportunity to present their work and highlight the role their cooperative plays in the local community.

During the discussion, the women outlined how they process shea nuts into shea butter and how they transform this into various cosmetic products. The cooperative provides women in the region with a stable source of income and greater independence. Being able to share this directly with the municipal leadership was of significant value to them.

The MCE expressed appreciation for the women’s initiative and emphasized the importance of their activities for the local economy. He confirmed that the Municipal Assembly is willing to support the cooperative where possible and announced that he will visit the production site in the near future.

Both parties considered the meeting positive. For the cooperative, the acknowledgement from the municipality shows that their efforts are recognized and that there is space for continued collaboration to strengthen women-led initiatives in the area.🌿
